Quick answer: Plug the DD10K dongle into your T54W, create a second phone entry in Barti, add a second router port forwarding rule, and configure Account 2 on the T54W — this gives the W73H its own independent Barti line.
Who this is for: Any staff member setting up a Yealink W73H wireless handset. You'll need a Barti admin to complete the Barti side first
Before you start, you'll need:
- A Yealink T54W already set up and registered
- A DD10K dongle plugged into the USB port on the T54W (supports up to 2 W73H handsets per dongle)
- The SIP username, SIP password, and SIP address for the handset from Organization Settings → Communication in Barti
How this setup differs from a standard phone
A DECT wireless handset in Independent Mode runs as a fully separate line — not an extension of the desk phone. This means it needs its own Barti phone entry, its own SIP account on the T54W, and its own router port forward rule.
| Standard desk phone | DECT wireless handset | |
|---|---|---|
| Hardware | Yealink T54W | T54W + DD10K + W73H |
| Barti entries required | 1 | 2 |
| SIP accounts on T54W | 1 | 2 |
Step 1: Create a second phone entry in Barti
- Go to Organization Settings → Communication → VoIP Office Phones.
- Click Add Phone.
- Fill in the fields:
- Phone Display Name: a label for this handset (e.g., "Front Desk DECT" or "Wireless Handset")
- SIP Username: a unique identifier — no spaces, no capitals required (e.g.,
frontdeskwireless) - SIP Password: minimum 12 characters, with at least 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter, and 1 number
- Transfer Number: a unique extension (1–99)
- Click Add Phone.
- Use the Copy buttons to copy the SIP username, SIP password, and SIP address — you'll need all three in Step 4.
Step 2: Pair the W73H handset to the DD10K dongle
- Reboot the T54W (Settings → Upgrade → Reboot). The DECT menu won't fully load until after a reboot with the dongle connected.
- After the reboot, go to Status → Handset in the T54W web UI to confirm the DECT menu is visible.
- On the W73H handset, go to Settings → Registration → Register Handset.
- The handset will detect the DD10K — select it and enter PIN 0000 if prompted.
- Confirm the handset appears in the Handset table with status Registered.
If the DECT/Handset menu doesn't appear after reboot: Unplug the DD10K, wait 10 seconds, and re-plug it while the phone is running. The option "Select and update handset firmware" appearing under Settings → Upgrade confirms the dongle is detected.
Step 3: Configure Account 2 on the T54W
- In the T54W web UI, go to Account → Register.
- Switch the Account dropdown to Account 2.
- Set Line Active to On.
- Enter a label in both the Label and Display Name fields (e.g., "Front Desk DECT"). This is what appears on the handset's screen.
- Copy and paste the SIP username from Barti into both the Register Name and Username fields.
- Copy and paste the SIP password from Barti into the Password field.
- Copy and paste the SIP address from Barti into the SIP Server 1 → Server Host field.
- Click Confirm.
⚠️ Important: Copy and paste all credentials directly from Barti — do not type them manually. Extra spaces or typos are the most common cause of registration failures.
Optional: Hide the handset line from the T54W display
By default, Account 2 appears as a line key on the T54W's physical screen. If you'd prefer it not to show there:
- Go to Dsskey → Line Key.
- Find Line Key 2 (labeled "Front Desk DECT").
- Change the Type from Line to N/A.
- Click Confirm.
The handset line will no longer appear on the T54W's display, but Account 2 remains fully active and registered for the W73H.
Step 4: Set the handset to Independent Mode
- Go to Menu → DECT Settings in the T54W web UI.
- In the Satellite Mode section:
- Select Handset: Handset 2
- Mode: Take Over Call (this is Independent Mode)
- Click Save.
What you'll see when it works
Account 2 in the T54W web UI shows Registered. The W73H handset screen displays the line label you set (e.g., "Front Desk DECT"). Make a test outbound call from the handset to confirm it dials on its own independent line.
Troubleshooting
The DECT/Handset menu isn't visible in the T54W web UI.
The dongle hasn't fully initialized. Reboot the T54W with the DD10K plugged in. If the menu still doesn't appear, unplug the dongle, wait 10 seconds, and re-plug it while the phone is running.
The W73H handset shows "No Service."
The handset isn't paired to the dongle. Re-pair it by going to Settings → Registration → Register Handset on the handset and selecting the DD10K base.
Registration failed — what should I check?
- Confirm you copied and pasted (not manually typed) the SIP username, password, and SIP address from Barti.
- Check all fields for accidental leading or trailing spaces.
- If you have a firewall (such as McAfee or Norton), temporarily disable it and try registering again.
I'm registered but can't place or receive calls.
- Temporarily disable any firewall software to test whether it's blocking audio.
- Try switching your connection type — if you're on Wi-Fi, try a wired connection (or vice versa).
- Confirm your headset receiver is plugged into the correct port on the phone.
- Confirm that each registered phone in Barti has a unique password. Shared passwords can cause call issues even when registration succeeds.
