Quick answer: Barti sends claims electronically to TriZetto (the clearinghouse), which checks them and forwards them to the payer. Payments recorded in TriZetto flow back into Barti.
Who this is for: Billing and claims staff at practices that submit claims through TriZetto.
How Barti and TriZetto work together
Barti is where you build and send claims. TriZetto is the clearinghouse that edits and processes each claim and routes it to the payer. Payments recorded in TriZetto are reflected back in Barti.
Submitting claims
- Electronically: Select Submit Claim to send the claim digitally to TriZetto.
- Manually (CMS1500): Select Finalize Claim to enter the manual workflow, where you can print a CMS1500 form and mail it.
Fixing a rejected claim
If a claim is Rejected, the clearinghouse or payer declined it. Corrections for rejected claims must be made within TriZetto. See Claims Statuses and Rejections for common rejection reasons and how to resolve them.
Fixing a claim in Error
An Error means the claim didn't successfully transmit to TriZetto, which can be a connection issue or a problem with your username and password.
Steps:
- On the claim, select Retry Submission to move it back to Hold (this clears the previous error), then submit it again.
- If it errors again, re-save your TriZetto username and password in Barti to refresh the connection, then use Retry Submission and submit once more.
You can also retry several errored claims at once from the claims list. See How do I retry a claim that failed to submit?
