Recurring blocks allow you to schedule repeating time off, availability restrictions, or non-patient events on your calendar (such as lunch, meetings, or out-of-office time) without creating each event individually.
Creating a Recurring Block
- Navigate to Appointments in the main menu
- Select Schedule in the submenu
- Click on a time slot on the calendar to open the appointment form
- Toggle on Recurring Event at the top of the form
- The form title changes to "Recurring Event"
- Patient fields are removed (blocks are not patient-linked)
- Select the Event Type for your block:
- Out of Office
- Lunch
- Block
- Break
- Set the start time and duration
- Select a Repeat pattern from the dropdown:
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Daily | Repeats every day |
| Weekly | Repeats on the same day each week |
| Every Other Week | Repeats every two weeks on the same day |
| Monthly | Repeats on the same date each month |
| Yearly | Repeats on the same date each year |
- For Weekly recurrence, select which day(s) of the week the block applies
- Click Save
Editing a Recurring Block
When you click to edit an event that is part of a recurring series, you will be prompted to choose the scope of your edit:
- This event — changes apply only to the selected occurrence
- This and future events — changes apply to the selected occurrence and all following occurrences
- All events — changes apply to every occurrence in the series
Skipping an Individual Occurrence
To remove a single occurrence without affecting the rest of the series:
- Click the occurrence you want to remove
- Select This event when prompted for edit scope
- Delete the event
The rest of the recurring series remains unchanged.
Notes
- Recurring blocks do not require a patient to be selected
- All-day recurring blocks are supported
- To end a recurring series entirely, edit the block and select All events, then delete
