How do I edit charges on an invoice in Barti?

Quick answer: Under Charges on an invoice, edit the diagnosis, modifiers, unit price, or staff on any line item, or click + Add Charge to bill an additional service or product.

Who this is for: All Barti Users.

Before you start, you'll need:

  • An invoice created from a patient's exam

Steps

Edit an existing line item

  1. Open the invoice and locate the line item under Charges.

  2. Edit any of the following directly on the line item:

    • Diagnosis — pulled from the exam; can be adjusted directly in the invoice.

    • Modifiers — can be added to any line item.

    • Unit Price — defaults from your service catalog; adjustments are logged with the user who made the change.

    • Staff — add a staff member to a line item to affect your Production Report.

Add a new charge

  1. Click + Add Charge.

  2. Search for and select the service or inventory item you want to bill — this can include frames, contact lenses, lens options, or general inventory.

What you'll see when it works

The line item reflects your changes immediately. Unit Price changes are recorded in the invoice's audit history along with the user who made the change.

Troubleshooting

Where does the Diagnosis field come from, and can I change it?

The Diagnosis is pulled from the patient's exam, but you can adjust it directly on the invoice without needing to reopen the exam.
