How Quinn Scribe fills in fields

Quinn Scribe is the Barti feature that transcribes your spoken exam into structured fields. It was previously called AI Scribe. You start it with the Transcribe button in the exam top bar, and it can fill in any of the fields below as it hears the information during the visit.

The sections below list every field Quinn Scribe can fill in.

Visit and history

  • Chief Complaint

  • Additional Notes

  • Medical History — chronic conditions and past diagnoses, such as hypertension, diabetes, or asthma

  • Ocular History

  • Family Medical History

  • Family Ocular History

  • Social History

  • Medications

  • Allergies

Vitals

  • Vital Signs

  • Blood Pressure

Entrance testing

  • Visual Acuity — distance and near for each eye, test type, correction type, and notes

  • Pupil

  • Cover Test — near and distance

  • Extraocular Motility (EOM)

  • Stereopsis — including the test name and arc-second result

  • Color Vision

Refraction and measurements

  • Manifest Refraction

  • IOP

  • Dilation

  • Confrontation Visual Fields

Eye exam findings

  • Anterior Segment

  • Posterior Segment

Review of Systems

Quinn Scribe can fill in all 14 body systems:

  • Constitutional

  • Eyes

  • Ears, nose, mouth, throat

  • Cardiovascular

  • Respiratory

  • Gastrointestinal

  • Genitourinary

  • Musculoskeletal

  • Integumentary

  • Neurological

  • Psychiatric

  • Endocrine

  • Hematologic/Lymphatic

  • Allergic/Immunologic

For each system, Quinn Scribe enters Negative when the patient denies current symptoms. Otherwise, it enters a brief note describing the symptom the patient reports. Diagnosed or chronic conditions go to Medical History instead of Review of Systems.

Assessment and Plan

  • Assessment and Plan diagnoses — one diagnosis for each condition the provider assesses

  • Plans — one instruction for each diagnosis

  • Procedures

  • Autocode — say "Code for me" or "Autocode" to pull diagnoses into the Assessment and Plan

  • Patient Recall

  • Addendum — on a finalized exam

Prescription notes

  • Glasses Rx Notes

  • Contact Lens Rx — Additional Notes

Specialty Lens and Vision Therapy

  • Specialty Lens (shown as GP in the exam navigation)

  • Vision Therapy — VT Procedures, VT Next Procedures, VT Home Therapy, VT Visit Summary, VT Details and Goals, VT Next Details and Goals, and VT Visit Results

Fields Quinn Scribe never replaces

Quinn Scribe adds new entries to four areas and never replaces what is already there:

  • Assessment and Plan — adds one diagnosis for each condition assessed

  • Medical History — adds one new row for each chronic condition or past diagnosis it hears

  • Allergies — adds one row for each allergen it hears

  • Plans — adds one instruction for each diagnosis

For all other fields, if the visit returns to a section, Quinn Scribe fills that section in again based on what it hears. Review your exam before you save it.

What you'll see when it works

As Quinn Scribe hears information for a field, it moves to that section of the exam, highlights the updated field, and plays a chime. The filled-in fields stay in the exam for your review.

Troubleshooting

Is Quinn Scribe the same as AI Scribe?

Yes. AI Scribe is the earlier name for the same transcription feature. You may still see "AI Scribe" in some settings or older materials.

Why did a condition show up in Medical History instead of Review of Systems?

Quinn Scribe sends diagnosed or chronic conditions, such as diabetes or hypertension, to Medical History. Review of Systems is for symptoms the patient reports today. If the patient has no current symptoms in a system, Quinn Scribe enters Negative.

I see a microphone icon next to some fields. Should I use it?

Use the Transcribe button in the exam top bar instead. Quinn Scribe fills in all the fields listed above from that one button, so fields don't need their own microphone icon. Some fields still show one, but results from those icons can be inconsistent.

I don't see a microphone icon on a field. Can Quinn Scribe still fill it in?

Yes. Quinn Scribe fills in fields from the Transcribe button in the exam top bar, so fields don't need their own microphone icon.

Why am I being asked to confirm patient consent?

Your organization has turned on Require patient consent before transcription in Settings → General → AI Scribe Patient Consent. Confirm the patient has consented, then click Patient Consented. You only need to do this once per exam.

Quinn Scribe didn't fill in a field I expected.

Quinn Scribe only fills in fields it hears information for. Make sure you said the information out loud during the recording, and check that the field appears in the lists above. If it should be supported and still isn't filling in, email [email protected].
