Pull Forward Diagnoses
In this article, you will learn how to pull forward diagnoses from a previous exam into the current exam's Assessment & Plan section in Barti.
❗ Important Note: Pull Forward Diagnoses is only available in the Assessment & Plan V2. Your organization must have this feature enabled. If you have questions, please contact Barti Support.
- Open or create an exam for the patient.
- Navigate to the Assessment & Plan section of the exam.
- If the patient's most recent signed exam had diagnoses, a Pull Forward button appears in the Diagnoses section.
- Click Pull Forward add all diagnoses from the patient's most recent signed exam to the current exam.
- Click the Magnifying glass next to Pull Forward to select diagnosis codes to pull from a prior exam.
- The Pull Forward Diagnoses modal opens, showing a list of the patient's past signed exams.
- Browse the exams and select individual diagnoses by clicking on them, or click Select All to select all diagnoses from that exam.
- Click Confirm to add the selected diagnoses to the current exam.
- Click Cancel to close the modal without making changes.
- All pulled forward diagnoses appear in the Diagnoses section with their original code, description, and status (Active or Inactive).
- Associated plan instructions from the selected exam are also pulled forward when applicable.
- You can edit, remove, or add additional diagnoses as needed before signing the exam.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which past exams are available to pull from?
Only signed exams are available in the Pull Forward modal. Unsigned or in-progress exams are not shown.
Can I pull diagnoses from multiple past exams at once?
No. You can only select diagnoses from one exam per pull forward action. Run the pull forward a second time to add diagnoses from another exam.
Will pulling forward a diagnosis also pull its plan?
Yes. When a diagnosis has an associated plan in the source exam, the plan is pulled forward along with the diagnosis.
Can I undo a pull forward?
Pulled forward diagnoses can be individually removed from the current exam before signing. There is no bulk undo.
