Summary
In this article, you will learn how to use AI Plan Summaries to add plan instructions during an exam by recording a short voice note. When the feature is enabled, you can use the Summarize button in the Assessment and Plan section to record audio; Barti will return an AI-generated summary and add it as a plan instruction. This is different from Transcribe, which adds a verbatim transcription.
1. Open the Exam
- Open the patient’s Exam from the dashboard or schedule.
- In the exam, go to the Assessment and Plan section (use the exam jump navigation or scroll).
- Ensure at least one diagnosis is added so that a plan entry is shown.
2. Use Summarize to add a plan instruction from voice
- In the plan entry for a diagnosis, find the Transcribe and Summarize buttons next to the diagnosis codes.
- Click Summarize (microphone icon). The button will change to Recording....
- Discuss the plan with your patient .
- Click Recording... again to stop the recording
- When processing finishes, the AI-generated summary is added as a new plan instruction in that entry.
3. Edit or remove the instruction (optional)
- The new instruction appears in the list with the other plan instructions for that diagnosis.
- To edit: click into the instruction text and type your changes.
- To remove: click the X on the right of the instruction card.
4. Save the exam
- Save the exam as usual. The summarized plan instructions are stored with the exam.
