How do I add notes to an invoice in Barti?

In the Notes section at the bottom of an invoice, add a Patient-Facing Note (visible to the patient) or an Internal Note (visible to staff only).

Written by Dan Healey

Who this is for: All Barti users who manage invoices.

Before you start, you'll need:

  • An invoice

Steps

  1. Open the invoice.

  2. Scroll to the Notes section at the bottom.

  3. Enter text in the field that matches what you need:

    • Invoice Notes — visible to the patient on the invoice.

    • Internal Office Notes — visible to staff only.

What you'll see when it works

Patient-facing notes appear on the invoice as the patient sees it, including on printed or shared copies. Internal notes are visible only inside Barti to staff.

Viewing an invoice's change history

Click the History tab on the invoice to see a complete audit log of every change made to it, including the user and timestamp for each update.

Troubleshooting

Will the patient see my internal notes?

No. Internal Notes are visible to staff only. Only text entered in Invoice Notes appears on the patient's invoice.

Can I tell who made a specific change to an invoice?

Yes. Open the History tab — every change is logged with the user who made it and a timestamp.

I still have questions about invoice notes or history.
