How do I print patient cards in Barti?

Quick answer: Print one patient card from the action menu on a patient's profile or an appointment row. To print cards for everyone on a schedule at once, click Print Patient Cards on the home page or the Appointment Schedule.

Who this is for: All Barti users. Printing a single card is available to everyone. Bulk printing is currently rolling out — if you don't see the Print Patient Cards button, contact Barti Support to have it enabled for your organization.

Before you start, you'll need:

  • A printer set up on your computer, or use your browser's print dialog to save the cards as a PDF

  • For bulk printing: appointments on the schedule for the day or date range you want cards for

Steps

Print a card for one patient

  1. Open the patient's profile and click the actions menu in the patient header.

  2. Click Print Patient Card.

  3. Your browser's print dialog opens. Choose your printer, or select Save as PDF, and print.

You can also do this from the home page: on the Today's Appointments list, open the actions menu on an appointment row and click Print Patient Card.

Print cards for everyone on today's schedule

  1. Go to the Barti home page.

  2. Find the Today's Appointments card.

  3. Optionally narrow the list using the Staff Members filter — the cards that print match the appointments shown.

  4. Click Print Patient Cards.

  5. Your browser's print dialog opens. Choose your printer, or select Save as PDF, and print.

Print cards for a date range or a filtered set of appointments

  1. Go to Appointments, then open the Schedule tab.

  2. Set your filters — date range, patient name, event types, insurances, locations, staff, and status all apply.

  3. Click Print Patient Cards in the top-right corner.

  4. Your browser's print dialog opens. Choose your printer, or select Save as PDF, and print.

This prints a card for every patient matching your filters, not just the page you're looking at.

What you'll see when it works

The button briefly shows Loading... while Barti gathers the patient information, then your browser's print dialog opens.

Each patient prints on their own page, containing:

  • Demographics — Full Name, Preferred Name, Date of Birth, MRN, Sex, Spoken Language, and Written Language

  • Contact — Phone and Email

  • Addresses — a Name and Address table

  • Insurances — Type, Network, Member ID, Group #, Policy Holder, and Notes

  • Notes — patient notes, each showing who created and last modified it

If a patient has nothing on file for a section, the card shows a short placeholder instead — for example No address on file, No insurance on file, or Patient is marked as Self-Pay.

A patient scheduled more than once in your selection prints only one card. Appointments with no patient attached, such as blocked time, are skipped.

Troubleshooting

Why do I get "Too many patients to print at once"?

Barti prints a maximum of 500 patients in one job. When your selection exceeds that, nothing prints and the message tells you how many patients were in the selection.

On the Appointment Schedule, narrow the date range or add filters and try again. Splitting a large range into smaller batches — a week at a time, for example — is the usual fix.

Why do I see "No patient cards to print for the current filters"?

Your current filters on the Appointment Schedule matched no appointments with a patient attached. This also happens when the only results are blocked time, which has no patient to print. Clear or widen your filters and try again.

Why is the Print Patient Cards button greyed out?

On the home page, the button is disabled when Today's Appointments is still loading or there are no patients scheduled today.

On the Appointment Schedule, it's disabled while a print is already in progress or before a date range has been applied. Wait for Loading... to finish, then try again.

Why can't I find the Print Patient Cards button?

Bulk printing is being rolled out to practices gradually and is off by default. When it isn't enabled for your organization, the button is hidden on both the home page and the Appointment Schedule — but Print Patient Card for a single patient still works from the patient profile and appointment rows. Contact Barti Support to request bulk printing.

Can I save the cards as a PDF instead of printing them?

Yes. Barti hands off to your browser's print dialog, so choose Save as PDF as the destination. All the selected cards save into one file.
